Comme le rapporte l’Aachener Zeitung, un groupe de recherche dirig\u00e9 par l’Universit\u00e9 RWTH d’Aix-la-Chapelle travaille sur les bases scientifiques d’une nouvelle m\u00e9thode contraceptive non hormonale pour les hommes. L\u2019objectif du projet est de d\u00e9velopper une alternative s\u00fbre et r\u00e9versible aux m\u00e9thodes contraceptives pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment disponibles \u00e0 long terme.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/span>Le r\u00e9seau \u00ab ContraPur \u00bb est coordonn\u00e9 par le professeur Marc Spehr du RWTH Aix-la-Chapelle. Des scientifiques des universit\u00e9s de Bonn, M\u00fcnster, Giessen et Munich sont \u00e9galement impliqu\u00e9s. Le minist\u00e8re f\u00e9d\u00e9ral de la Recherche, de la Technologie et de l’Espace finance le projet \u00e0 hauteur d’environ trois millions d’euros sur trois ans.<\/p>\n

La recherche se concentre sur un processus biologique dans les testicules qui a jusqu’\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent \u00e9t\u00e9 mal compris. Des millions de spermatozo\u00efdes y sont produits chaque jour et ils ne sont pas encore eux-m\u00eames mobiles. Selon les connaissances actuelles, ils sont transport\u00e9s vers l’\u00e9pididyme par des contractions de cellules musculaires particuli\u00e8res dans les tubules s\u00e9minif\u00e8res.<\/p>\n

Ces contractions sont apparemment contr\u00f4l\u00e9es par la propre mol\u00e9cule de signalisation du corps, l’ATP. Les chercheurs veulent comprendre quels g\u00e8nes, prot\u00e9ines et voies de signalisation contr\u00f4lent ce processus et comment le transport des spermatozo\u00efdes peut \u00eatre sp\u00e9cifiquement et temporairement bloqu\u00e9.<\/p>\n

L\u2019approche diff\u00e8re fondamentalement des tentatives pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes de \u00ab pilule masculine \u00bb, qui reposaient principalement sur des interventions hormonales. Au lieu de supprimer la production de spermatozo\u00efdes, il faudrait influencer leur transport dans les testicules. Cela pourrait entra\u00eener une infertilit\u00e9 temporaire sans affecter de mani\u00e8re permanente la fertilit\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Le professeur Spehr a soulign\u00e9 que la recherche en est encore \u00e0 ses d\u00e9buts. De nombreuses questions fondamentales sur la biologie de la reproduction masculine restent encore sans r\u00e9ponse. Il s\u2019agit donc actuellement de recherche fondamentale et non de d\u00e9veloppement d\u2019un m\u00e9dicament imm\u00e9diatement pr\u00eat \u00e0 \u00eatre commercialis\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Cependant, si cette approche r\u00e9ussit comme esp\u00e9r\u00e9, elle pourrait, \u00e0 long terme, ouvrir la voie \u00e0 une m\u00e9thode contraceptive masculine r\u00e9versible et sans hormones et r\u00e9partir ainsi plus largement la responsabilit\u00e9 de la planification familiale entre les sexes.<\/p>\n

Une m\u00e9thode contraceptive r\u00e9versible d\u00e9signe une forme de contraception temporaire et r\u00e9versible. Apr\u00e8s l\u2019arr\u00eat d\u2019un \u00e9ventuel m\u00e9dicament, la fertilit\u00e9 normale de l\u2019homme doit \u00eatre r\u00e9tablie.
